You’ll start with a useful task or process and turn it into a structured Skill that gives ChatGPT or Claude clearer instructions for how to help someone.

Custom GPTs Are Going Away. So What’s Next?
For the last few years, Custom GPTs gave us a simple way to take instructions, knowledge, and a process and turn them into a specialized AI assistant. OpenAI has announced that Custom GPTs are being retired.
As OpenAI moves creators toward its Plugin system, the instructions and workflows that powered Custom GPTs are becoming Skills. Claude also supports Skills.
So the important thing to learn now isn’t how to build another Custom GPT.
It’s how to take what you know and package it as a reusable AI Skill. That’s what we’re doing in this workshop.
I’ll show you how to take a process you understand, break down how it works, turn it into a Skill, test it, and package it so you can use it yourself, give it to clients, or sell it. Then we’ll build a real Skill together from start to finish.
Good. You’re not starting over.
You already understand the basic idea of giving AI specialized instructions, knowledge, examples, and a job to perform.
Now you need to understand how that thinking translates into Skills. The workshop will show what’s different, what carries over, and how to start translating that existing knowledge into the new format.
The format is changing. The underlying expertise still has value.
This Is Not Just Another Prompt Class
A prompt is usually something you type once to get a result.
A Skill gives AI a reusable process for handling a specific job.
If you’ve built Custom GPTs, some of the thinking will feel familiar because you’re still working with instructions, expertise, examples, processes, and expected outputs. What’s changing is how that expertise gets packaged.
That is why learning Skills matters now. Both ChatGPT and Claude support the broader Skill concept, so you’re learning a method you can apply across more than one AI platform.
Instead of giving someone a page of prompts and hoping they know what to do with them, you can create a reusable tool built around a specific outcome. That makes Skills useful for digital products, client services, internal business tools, and lead magnets.

- ✓Define the process — break down what the AI needs to ask, understand, and do.
- ✓Build the Skill — turn that process into reusable instructions for ChatGPT or Claude.
- ✓Test & improve — run real examples and fix the places where the Skill gets confused.
- ✓Package it — turn the Skill into something you can share, use with clients, or sell.
You don’t need 50 Skills. You need one useful Skill for the right person and problem.
